Discovery Countrytime Hotel Omarama Summer Re-Opening

The Distinction Hotels Group wishes to announce that Discovery Countrytime Hotel Omarama will re-open for stays from 21 October 2024.

The hotel went into hibernation at the start of the pandemic however its sister Omarama hotel; Heritage Gateway Hotel remained fully operational and continued to welcome visitors to the region, as New Zealand’s borders re-opened. The Distinction Hotels Group purchased both of these hotels from The Mount Cook Hotel Collection and took over operations in late 2023.

Distinction Hotels Group CEO Duncan Fletcher said "with an increase in international flight schedules and a pent up demand for visitors to explore this beautiful part of the world, the time is right to re-open our second Omarama hotel, situated a short drive from Omarama village and next to the Omarama Airfield, thus introducing a further 47-room capacity to the region".

"The Distinction Heritage Gateway team will continue to do an outstanding job, comfortably accommodating all those travellers wishing to experience this special piece of NZ paradise over both the summer and quieter winter months. Whilst Countrytime Hotel is currently rated a 2-star accommodation, our maintenance team is working on a soft refurbishment, whilst our management teams across both properties are working closely to ensure we deliver our distinctively high level of service this Summer", he said.
