Omarama Airport Next to Discovery Countrytime Hotel

Visiting pilots to Omarama Airport, Discovery Countrytime Hotel is open for the summer from the 7th of November 2024 until the end of May 2025.

Discovery Countrytime Hotel is located on the western airport boundary, adjacent to runway 09R threshold NZOA. The hotel's friendly team welcomes visiting pilots wishing to stay the night or those needing just a few hours break or fuel stop. Take the opportunity to visit the hotel's iconic restaurant to enjoy a coffee and snack.

Omarama is a destination in itself and lies at the crossroads of the Waitaki District, Mackenzie Region including Aoraki/Mt Cook and Lindis Pass. As a junction town, Omarama is the perfect base for exploring the myriad of attractions scattered throughout these regions. On your arrival you can taxi right up to the hotel and park/tie down. The aircraft parking area is located directly in front of the hotel’s northern side, accessible from runways 09R and 27L.

From the restaurant & bar your aircraft will be visible showcasing the Benmore Range as the majestic backdrop. Parking location is marked with a blue circle below.

The parking area is available to fixed and rotary wing aircraft, the normal precautions and considerations apply for parking. Please bring your own tie downs. Parking is on a first come, first served basis but if the area is full further parking is available in Area 1 identified on the NZOA Aerodrome (1) Chart.

Parking is at your own risk and is free of charge but landing fees as per NZAIP NZOA do apply.

As always please familiarize yourself with the NZAIP, NZOA and NOTAMS and be aware of the increased gliding activity over the summer months.
